Since
1990 Potnline has designed and delivered large and small community engagement
programs. Design of programs involves several steps:
-
building an inventory of who should
be involved and their capacity to participate;
-
facilitation of community reference
groups and Taskforce operation;
-
communication and Information-sharing
between scientists, regulators and other stakeholders;
-
techniques to best explore options and
develop agreed ways forward.
Potnline has delivered community engagement projects
in her consultancy work and her community work as president of the
West End Community Association, working for sustainable urban development
in inner city Brisbane.

"This one-day workshop worked with agency scientists and
community experts to generate insights about Larry's impact on the
Wet Tropics environment and lessons learnt about managing the impacts
on the environment from the clean up operations. An action plan

identified."

Communication Strategy, Oxley Creek Greenfield
Development Area
Water Resources
Brisbane City Council
The design and facilitation of the communication processes for this
major Brisbane development site involved identifying key stakeholders
and their interests, developing project fact sheets and obtaining
community views through the Oxley Creek Water Festival and an Open
Day at Pallara State School. The result was an agreed way forward
for different interest groups to participate in plans prepared by
Council and the development industry.
